It was a passion for performance that led Rachel to establish a marketing company in 1996. Frustrated at seeing otherwise talented business owners frittering marketing budgets away with a low return, Rachel committed to help New Zealand businesses achieve better results and guide them to higher performing marketing strategies that would yield a better bang for buck.
From marketing agency to advertising agency
To facilitate the implementation of these strategies, Rachel surrounded herself with a dynamic team of talented creatives, and transformed the consultancy into an advertising agency with poise. The agency quickly gained a reputation for well-researched strategy, and gutsy "delicious" creative "with legs".
This marketing-led approach landed Alexanders iconic South Island brands including SKOPE Industries, Tait Electronics and Christchurch International Airport. And it was Rachel's business acumen that landed her with the esteemed title of South Island Self Employed Woman of the Year, 2000.
Clearly a winning formula, Alexanders grew by over 100% for three years in a row, and regularly swept off laden with multiple awards for creative in print and direct marketing services from the South Island Advertising Awards.
Yet it is for its achievement with one of its earliest clients that Alexanders remains most proud. Over 18 months, the agency's strategies and creative doubled revenue whilst halving ad spend for local branches of Bay Audiology, through concerted test and measure campaigns. Bay Audiology Group is now Australasia's leading audiology practice with clinics in 34 locations nationwide.
More than 16 years on, the passion for improving ROI for clients still burns. However with the vast increase in demand for online marketing, Rachel decided to reposition and changed the name from Alexanders Advertising to Alexanders Internet Marketing in early 2010.
